Flinstones Shoot.

For this shoot, i actually took it on a damp day - it began to rain halfway through my shoot which unfortunately limited my shoot. However, i managed to take some images and the damp weather definitely gave my photographs the lighting i originally wanted to gain. The lighting gave the images a sort of grey-ish filter, which fitted ‘The Flinstones’ subject of the images due to the tv show being set in the ‘modern stone age’. I shot the images in my garden, on some gravel made up of rocks and stones which also fitted the ‘stone age’ theme which ‘The Flinstones’ provided. I took the photos using a Canon EOS 4000d DSLR camera, changing the settings dependent on the angle.

For this image, I took the vehicle from the Lego 'Flinstones' set and added two of the main characters from the tv show: 'Barney Rubble' and 'Fred Flinstone'. I placed both Lego characters, and their vehicle on the rocky gravel in my garden to replicate the famous stone-age city from the tv show ('Bedrock City'). I used a low aperture to create a shallow depth of field and I angled my camera, with a landscape portrait until my garden's fence in the background wasn't on show anymore so only the stone gravel was in the frame – to get as close to the 'Bedrock City' theme as possible. The touch of purple and red on the vehicle are harmonious and give the image more cartoon look, along the complementary yellow and orange from the two characters. I definitely wanted this cartoon look because it 'brings to life' 'The Flinstones' cartoon.

Final Image.

For the developments of this image, i first slightly adjusted the lighting because i wanted to achieve a warmer atmosphere because the ‘town of Bedrock’ always seemed to be sunny in this famous tv show. I also gained this warmer atmosphere by decreasing the contrast and increasing the temperature and slightly tinting the image green. I finally added more vibrance to the image, to make the harmonious and complementary colours stand out. I didn’t adjust the texture or any details involving the texture because i didn’t want to risk having noise in my image and the quality declining from the original shoot - this is also why i slightly decreased the saturation of the photograph.

For this image, i set up the entire Lego ‘Flinstones’ house with the characters ‘Betty Rubble’ and ‘Wilma Flinstone’. I positioned the two characters so it looked as if they were leaving the house, perhaps for a day out in ‘Bedrock’ (the famous city from the show). I placed all the Lego on the rocky gravel in my garden, but i chose a specific patch which had more greenery on it. I did this because of the green lego which the ‘Flinstones’ house is placed upon - the touches of green on the stones match and cause the photo to look more natural. It almost makes the photo loom as if it’s in a jungle or in the woods. I used a low aperture to blur out the background, just to focus on only the ‘Flinstones’ house and the characters.

Final Image.

For the developments of this image i didn’t adjust the lighting at all because i felt like i achieved the grey-ish lighting i wanted to with the natural lighting i was provided with on the day of the shoot. I further increased the temperature to make the image slightly warmer in colour, similarly to my previous developments of this shoot. I then tinted the image green to make the green colours of the ‘jungle’ more vibrant - whilst keeping the other elements and colours natural. Finally, i didn’t adjust the texture or details because, just like my other image, i wanted to reduce the risk of a quality decrease and/or noise in the photograph.
